Matthew Donner, MPT
Matt Donner is a 17 year resident of south Florida by way of New York, Puerto Rico and Maryland. He left Western Maryland College in with a BS degree in Political Science, along with multiple injuries and concussions from playing Division 3 football. His history of injury rehab and love of athletics and physiology brought him back to school 5 years later to pursue a career in Physical Therapy. Upon acceptance into Nova Southeastern University’s PT program he said goodbye to Maryland and drove his beat up Jetta to sunny South Florida. He graduated from NSU in 1997 with a Mastersdegree in Physical Therapy, and a fiancé (a fellow student, Stacy…see next Bio).
Matt has been in outpatient P.T. practice specializing in orthopedics and sports injury in Broward County for over 15 years. Serving as Practice Manager for HealthSouth Corporation for 2 years, he had the privilege and opportunity to work in close contact and learn from Miami Dolphins team doctors, Dr. Caldwell and Dr. Yoldas. From professional athlete to weekend warrior, Matt has treated all types of orthopedic injuries and has a special interest in treating / preventing youth baseball injury.
Matt enjoys spending time with family, doing obstacle races, triathlons, and watching “House Hunters” and “Chopped”. He can also still do a handstand on his skateboard. He dislikes when people cut in line.
Stacy Donner, MPT
Stacy is a native South Floridian who attended JP Taravella High School in Coral Springs. She was fortunate to have worked as a PT tech in her teens and knew prior to heading to college at FSU in 1991 that Physical Therapy would be the right career for her. She graduated Cum Laude with a BS degree in Biology and was accepted to the Nova Southeastern University’s PT program.
During an awkward, group introduction mix-up at the PT class orientation, she caught the eye of fellow student Matt Donner and they were married in 1998. Stacy has been working in out-patient orthopedics in Broward County since 1997. As a mom and per diem PT she has worked in a variety of settings with patients across the lifespan. Stacy enjoys the challenges of orthopedic rehab where each case is different from one patient to the next.
She is an avid reader, loves to volunteer at their kids’ schools, she can do 1 pull-up (almost), and dislikes when people check out of the express lane with more than 10 items.
Joe Bernreuter, DPT
Joe was born and raised in South Florida. He attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School where he played football and sustained a torn labrum injury of his shoulder requiring surgery and rehabilitation. His experiences with his sister who has Cerebral Palsy, along with his shoulder injury, first attracted him to the profession of physical therapy. Despite growing up a Canes fan, he went to FSU and graduated with an exercise science degree in 2006.
He was later accepted to the Florida International University’s first entry level doctorate program for Physical Therapy from which he graduated in 2010. He has been working in out-patient orthopedics ever since. Joe also holds a NASM personal training license. His extensive training in exercise and rehabilitation science makes him exceptionally skilled at addressing muscle imbalances and teaching correct form to all levels of patients. At a generous 6 ft 1, Joe has been known to ingest his body weight in grams of protein.
He enjoys food (although typically low in carbs), music festivals and sports. He dislikes laundry and allergies.
